Empowering Advanced Oral Chinese Teaching through Human-AI Collaboration: an Empirical Study

Chinese Abstract: 生成式人工智能正推动国际中文教学从“人机协同”向“人智协同”跃迁,但AI赋能研究多集中于阅读与写作,高级口语教学的人智协同实践仍属薄弱环节。该研究在梳理理论演进的基础上,构建了涵盖协同机制、交互模式与评价体系的“人智协同口语教学”三维框架,并基于大语言模型设计了口语训练系统及“师—机—生”协同的教学流程。研究采用准实验设计,对36名中高级留学生进行了12周教学实验,通过前后测对比与过程性数据分析,考察该模式对学习者口语复杂度、准确度、流利度及学习投入的影响,旨在为AI辅助国际中文口语教学提供可复制的实践路径。
Abstract: Generative AI is propelling international Chinese teaching from "human-machine collaboration" toward "human-AI collaboration," yet current AI-empowered research predominantly focuses on reading and writing, leaving advanced oral teaching underexplored. This study constructs a three-dimensional framework encompassing collaborative mechanisms, interaction modes, and evaluation systems, and designs an oral training system with a "teacher-AI-learner" collaborative workflow. A 12-week quasi-experiment involving 36 intermediate-to-advanced international students was conducted to examine the model's effects on oral complexity, accuracy, fluency, and learning engagement. The research aims to provide a replicable pathway for AI-assisted international Chinese oral instruction.
