Abstract: The creation epic of the Jingpo people, Yonawaziwa, is presented in a fully rhymed poetic form. It is passed down orally by the "Zhaowa" during the Yonaw ceremony to worship the god of Muide. It is the "root genealogy" and "treasure book" of the Jingpo ethnic culture. This article is based on the original text of Yonawaziwa collected and compiled by Li Xiangqian. From the perspective of poetic narration, it examines how this oral epic uses poetic language to trace the origin of all things and construct the mythological world. Through the examination, it can be verified that the epic has the narrative drive of "describing the origin and root", using the parallel formula of "ancient times, who created, who reproduced" to elaborate the creation process; with the question-and-answer structure of "What is this?", allowing the wise god to name and use all things; with the numerical progressive repetition of "crossing a mountain, passing over two dams", creating a long and rhythmic chanting sensation; and with the personification and explanatory poetics techniques, turning rivers, birds, beasts, and mountains into vivid narrative characters. All these together have forged the unique poetic character of Yonawaziwa.
