Abstract: In the context of quality-oriented education, mental health issues among medical vocational college students have become increasingly prominent. However, existing research lacks systematic empirical investigations targeting this specific group. This study administered the "Chinese College Student Mental Health Screening Scale" to 3,105 students from two medical vocational colleges to explore the current status of their mental health and propose intervention strategies. Results show: (1) the overall mental health status is concerning, with a warning rate of 25.15% and an abnormal detection rate of 18.26% for emptiness scores; (2) significant differences exist across majors (p<0.001), with clinical medicine having a significantly higher warning rate (35.82%) compared to nursing and pharmacy; (3) differences by grade are significant (p<0.001), with first-year students showing higher recent risk and emptiness issues than second-year students, although effect sizes are small (Cohen's d=0.24 for recent risk); (4) male students scored significantly higher on emptiness than female students (p<0.05, d=0.10). Findings indicate that the periods of academic adaptation and clinical internship are high-risk phases for psychological problems. Current systems suffer from generic curricula, service gaps during internships, and insufficient collaboration among schools, hospitals, and families. Based on these findings, we propose a tripartite mental health education system integrating prevention, intervention, and development, enhanced by artificial intelligence. Recommendations include strengthening curriculum instruction grounded in medical contexts, establishing a dual-track psychological support system during internships, promoting trilateral coordination mechanisms involving schools, hospitals, and families, and incorporating AI-based screening, early warnings, and companion-style support to improve the precision and accessibility of interventions.
